I know they’ve been in Nova Scotia a few times over the last number of years but I always managed to miss when and where they were playing. Well… I know they play next Friday and Saturday night at the New Rodeo Lounge in Dartmouth and I’ve already picked up my tickets. The last time I saw them in concert was on my 19th birthday in Truro which in fact was almost 19 years ago. Unreal how time flies but nevertheless I cannot wait to see them.
Marvel Studios has revealed the poster for Captain America: The First Avenger, hitting 3D and 2D theaters on July 22. Directed by Joe Johnston, the action adventure stars Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, Hugo Weaving, Sebastian Stan, Toby Jones, Samuel L. Jackson, Dominic Cooper, Tommy Lee Jones, Stanley Tucci and Neal McDonough.

One of my favorite bi-weekly titles is out today… Brightest Day!! I have to say that having Brightest Day and Generation Lost coming out every other week has been great. Both series will be soon be coming to an end but looking at all the upcoming Flashpoint releases I should be grateful. One limited series at long last finishes today, Time Masters: Vanishing Point. This series should have finished alongside of the Return of Bruce Wayne but both ran late. Speaking of late… Batman Odyssey is never on time.

The Event returns next month to televsion after taking hiatus at the end of November. Good news comes that there will be no loose ends if it isn’t renewed. Unfortunately that won’t be the case for V on ABC if it isn’t renewed. Here’s the scoop thanks to EW:
NBC has set a return date for The Event, and has tapped an A-list cinematographer to direct one pivotal episode.
EW has exclusively learned The Event is coming back on Monday, March 7, with a two-hour presentation, followed by Harry’s Law. After that, there’s nine more Event episodes to finish out the show’s first season.
Also, Janusz Kaminski — the Oscar-winning cinematographer behind a score of Steven Spielberg classics as Saving Private Ryan, Schindler’s List, and War of the Worlds — has been tapped to direct episode 15.
Could No. 15 be when fans finally learn what “The Event” is?
Producers said last year that the title reference will be revealed in the latter half of the first season. Also, they’ve maintained that the season finale will conclude the current storylines in a satisfying manner (a different strategy than, say, ABC’s V, which is going for a cliffhanger).

NBC’s superhero drama The Cape has had it’s episode order cut from 13 down to 10. Due to it’s poor ratings, the future doesn’t look bright for The Cape. It isn’t canceled yet but I wouldn’t hold my breath on it sticking around.

Geoff Johns and Andy Kubert and Sandra Hope are creating an epic five issue series, one with a scope so big and ambitious that there will be fifteen mini series expanding on the events, along with several important one shots.
Last Friday they announced fourteen mini series’ titles based on this year’s Flash based event titled Flashpoint. It seems that the story is based around the Reverse Flash changing some key moments in DC’s history so things don’t happen the way that they did. Here’s a list of the announced titles:
Whatever Happened to Gotham City?
FLASHPOINT: BATMAN KNIGHT OF VENGEANCE #1-#3
FLASHPOINT: DEADMAN AND THE FLYING GRAYSONS #1-#3
Whatever Happened to the World’s Greatest Super Villains?

Another week and more great reading on the way. At last the final set of Blackest Night Action Figures is released. Up next is the Brightest Day sets starting this summer. I have to say that reading about Lex Luthor the past number of month’s in Action Comics has been great. I’m really looking forward to issue 900. As most comic readers know, this week also marks the death of a member of the Fantastic Four. I don’t get FF monthly but I have to get this one. I’ll actually pick up the 4 issues leading into it if I can.

Do you like reading comics? Do you like old school wrestling? If you answered yes to either or both of these questions then you have to check out SLAM-A-RAMA by Halifax’s own Dave Howlett. Available for purchase at Strange Adventures this coming Wednesday!
Here’s a write-up from the comic’s website to give you a little idea of what the comic is all about:
An online graphic novel set during the gaudy glory days of 1980s professional wrestling, SLAM-A-RAMA chronicles the events of the greatest night in sports entertainment history. Over the course of one fateful evening, a diverse cast of characters–some at the top of their game, others on the downward slope of their careers–will be tested by bone-crushing battles within the ring, as well as the harrowing personal dramas that await them backstage.

After a very troubled development and years in the making the day is finally coming… Duke Nukem Forever is coming out on May 3rd, 2011!! Available for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on that date. All we can hope is that it lives up to at least some of the hype. You can check out the trailer below.
After the departure of Mike Portnoy before Christmas there were many questions about who would be on drums for their upcoming 2011 dates. Today we find out direct from the band via their website.
We recently asked several friends who knew Jimmy and his style, and also knew our music and each of our personalities to suggest drummers to tour with us starting this year. Our long time studio drum tech, Mike Fasano, recommended Arin Ilejay. We’ve rehearsed with Arin and have been impressed with his technical skills, attitude and work ethic. We’re very excited to tour with Arin and hope all of you will give him the warm welcome to the family we have.
Thanks for your never ending support. It means the world to us.
See you on the Nightmare After Christmas
