Kill Bill Vol.2 and The Punisher

April 18th, 2004 | Comments Off | Posted in Movies

Big weekend for movies for me. I was anxiously looking forward to seeing the conclusion to Kill Bill and of course seeing The Punisher. It sucks having them both debut the same weekend since Kill Bill will probably take a lot of money from The Punisher debut. My opinions? I liked Kill Bill Vol.2, but I was hoping for more action then there was in it. Overall still a good movie and good ending. The Punisher I just plain liked. They added some comic relief with some of the characters lines and it had decent action in it. The only thing I wasn’t too fond of was the final scene where he gets his revenge against on Howard Saint himself. I almost couldn’t recognize Kevin Nash of WWE fame as the Russian. So, it was a good weekend at the movies. Next up to watch, Van Helsing and Troy.

Hellboy Hits Screens Tomorrow

April 1st, 2004 | Comments Off | Posted in Movies

Hellboy is hitting theatres tomorrow and reviews are starting to come online. CNN has just posted their thoughts on the movie and they are good. This movie is definately on my list of movies to see. Another comic book movie hitting later this month I have to see is The Punisher. Here’s a clip from the CNN review:

One of the great things about having a passion for film is those rare moments when a movie reminds you of why you fell in love with the medium in the first place.

A lot of people discovered their love of movies through “Jaws” or “Star Wars.” Then, people found “Ghostbusters” and “Die Hard” or the Indiana Jones films. In recent memory, the obvious candidates would be “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy as well as the “Matrix” series. This Friday brings another film to add to that list: “Hellboy.”

Director Guillermo del Toro’s “Hellboy” is a choice cut of a film, something with true heart and emotion that manages to achieve summer movie spectacle without sacrificing story in lieu of showing off. It’s a film with a memory.
