There hasn’t been a lot of time in the last month to do updates and find lots of information to post about. Just over a week (June 6) and the Sopranos comes to an end for another season. I wish the season’s were longer then 13 episodes. Only 10 episodes for the next season (Season 6) and the show is going to wrap up. On the subject of TV shows, Stephen King’s Kingdom Hospital, after a month without an episode the last one aired Wednesday. ABC doesn’t have any more episodes even scheduled to air. What’s up with that? There are only 4 episodes left in the story… Anyways, I’m hoping to get more updates done in June. I have a couple more websites I have to build and at my full time job they are redoing their network. I have to install, configure the new server and switches I ordered and set all the clients up for the new configuration. So time is a little short. When I do see some good info I’ll post it, but it may be lacking for a little while yet.

GTA: San Andreas Info

May 17th, 2004 | 1 Comment | Posted in Gaming

The new issue of Game Informer (due on the 21st) apparently provides the first in-depth look at Rockstar’s anticipated GTA: San Andreas. Thanks to GTA-SanAndreas.com for the info. Here are the details from the upcoming issue:

  • San Andreas is not a city (as it was in the original GTA) but rather a state. Gameplay will take place in three cities, San Fierro (San Francisco), Las Venturra (Las Vegas), and Los Santos (LA). The countryside between the cities will be fully modeled. It is estimated that the entire game area will be anywhere from four to six times the size of Vice City.
  • The game takes place in the early ’90s.
  • The targeting system has yet again been “improved” in some unspecified way.
  • Players can now wield dual weapons.
  • AI characters can be recruited as gang members (allowing for four-person drivebys like those seen in the early screenshot).
  • The player character is Carl Johnson, a hood who returns home after serving a jail sentence in Liberty City only to find his mother dead. To top it off, he’s been framed for murder by a couple of crooked cops.
  • There will be far more interiors than in the previous GTA games. Break-ins are now possible and will be an integral part of many missions.
  • You can now swim.
  • Bicycles are indeed usable vehicles this time around.
  • Players can gamble in Las Venturra casinos. Later in the game it will be possible to build and operate your own casino should you so choose.
  • Various graphical improvements.
  • The most potentially iffy addition: a stamina meter that must be periodically recharged with food. If the player eats too much junk food they grow fat; this can be worked off in the gym.

Kill Bill: Volume 2 DVD

May 14th, 2004 | Comments Off | Posted in Movies

UPDATE: May 15, 2004 – I added the release date and info on the disc since it has become available since last night when I first posted on this.

Well, it looks like DVDAnswers has gotten a hold of the cover and info for the upcoming DVD release of Kill Bill: Vol.2 which will be available to own August 10, 2004. As well as an anamorphic widescreen presentation the disc, it will include both English Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1 tracks. Extras will include a Making of Kill Bill Vol. 2 featurette which includes interviews, comments and on-set visits, footage from the premiere party, including a Chin Gon performance, and a deleted scene featuring David Carradine and Michael Jai White, who doesn’t appear at all in the film’s final cut. Here’s more info on what is in store for those of us that wait on purchasing Kill Bill Vol.1 or 2. Thanks to JoBlo for the info.

Miramax is planning on releasing no less than six (SIX!) versions of KILL BILL on DVD with hopes of either conning unsuspecting viewers into buying more than one version or taking advantage of Tarantino devotees who collect DVDs. It’s an all-too-popular M.O. for home entertainment companies who repeatedly return to the same well in an attempt to get “multiple bites at the apple,” according to Miramax Chief Operating Officer Rick Sands. The New York Times spoke with Mr. Sands last Tuesday when he revealed the studio’s plans for six different versions. He said rather callously, “This is the beauty of having two volumes…VOL. 1 goes out, VOL. 2 goes out, then VOL. 1 SPECIAL EDITION, VOL. 2 SPECIAL EDITION, the two-pack, then the Tarantino collection as a boxed set out for Christmas…And you multiply this internationally.”
