Torque DVD Release

Torque which stars the likes of Ice Cube, Jamie Pressly, Jay Hernandez and Matt Schulze will be available to own May 18th this year according to DVDAnswers.com. The film will be presented in 2.40:1 anamorphic widescreen with both English and French Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks. I’ll post more info when it becomes available. For now, here’s a look at the cover.

Robocop Trilogy

DVDAnswers has heard that there will be a DVD set of the Robocop Trilogy arriving in stores on June 8th, 2004. Here are the details:

The first film will receive a newly mastered anamorphic widescreen presentation as well as a new Dolby Digital 5.1 mix. Extras will include an audio commentary with director Paul Verhoeven, producer Jon Davidson, and screenwriter Ed Neumeier, a Making of RoboCop documentary, four deleted scenes, a six minute film-to-storyboard comparison with optional commentary by Phil Tippett, two vintage featurettes, a still gallery, trailers and finally a TV spot. The other two films will receive the barebones treatment with only trailers included. Although films two and three will be available seperately, the first film will be available only as part of the trilogy set.

Stephen King’s Kingdom Hospital

Only a week and a half until the 2 hour premiere of Kingdom Hospital starring stars Andrew McCarthy as Dr. Hook, Academy Award nominee Diane Ladd as Sally Druse, Academy Award nominee Bruce Davison as Dr. Stegman and Ed Begley, Jr. as Dr. Jesse James. Outside of the Sopranos, this is the other premiere I am very anxious to see. If you don’t know of the show, here’s the run down.

Stephen King’s Kingdom Hospital is the haunting new 15-hour drama series created directly for television by the award-winning, bestselling master of horror. Using Lars Von Trier’s Danish miniseries Riget (a.k.a. The Kingdom) as a point of inspiration, King tells the terrifying story of The Kingdom, a hospital with a bizarre population that includes a nearly blind security guard, a nurse who regularly faints at the sight of blood and a paraplegic artist whose recovery is a step beyond miraculous. When patients and staff hear the tortured voice of a little girl crying through the halls, they are dismissive of any suggestion of mysticism or unseen powers … but at their own peril.

In other Stephen King news, the movie Secret Window, based on his novella Secret Window, Secret Garden starring Johnny Depp, is being released on March 12th. Also, a new television version of Salem’s Lot, starring Rob Lowe, is slated to debut in 2004.

McAfee AVERT Stinger

Network Associates has released a new version of Stinger bringing the version up to 2.0.2. If you don’t know what Stinger is, Stinger is a stand-alone utility used to detect and remove specific viruses. It is not a substitute for full anti-virus protection, but rather a tool to assist administrators and users when dealing with an infected system. Stinger utilizes next generation scan engine technology, including process scanning, digitally signed DAT files, and scan performance optimizations. You can download the newest version HERE.

More Sopranos Season 5

The New York Post Online recently did a bit of a writeup on Season 5. The first 4 episodes were given to critics in anticipation of the season 5 premiere March 7th. Here’s a clip of what they said:

The introduction of at least five new characters has apparently helped the show’s producers and writers reshape the series, while at the same time renewing the show’s original focus on Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini).

The introduction of these old-school hoods is explained in a credible way: Four of them were caught up in a long-ago round of indictments back in the 1980s and served long prison sentences. Now their prison terms are over, and they want back in.

Chief among them are Feech La Manna (Robert Loggia), Phillip Leotardo (Frank Vincent) and Angelo Gerepe (Joe Santos) – all mob veterans poised to play key roles in the series’ various mob factions.

In addition, there’s Tony’s cousin, Tony Blundetto (Steve Buscemi), and a brash female bookie, Lorraine Calluzzo (Patti D’Arbanville).

Above all, “Sopranos” fans want to know: Was it worth waiting 15 months for?

With fingers-crossed, the answer from here is: Absolutely.

Hellboy DVD Information

With the movie not coming to theatres until April 2nd, there is already some news on the DVD release. Here’s the scoop from DVDAnswers.

Director Guillermo del Toro recently revealed in an interview that the theatrical cut of Hellboy will be arriving on DVD this August. This release will include a minimal amount of extra material, and the standard two hour cut of the movie. He then plans to release a two or three disc extended edition in December. This could include up to fourty-five minutes of deleted footage. A collector’s set which includes a bust of Hellboy may also be available.
