DOOM – The Movie Closer?

November 29th, 2003 | Comments Off | Posted in Movies

There has been news of a movie based on this classic game for years, but it seems like a DOOM movie is more likely then ever. Here’s a clip from the article that you can read in full HERE.

Word of a movie based on DOOM has been kicking around for a while, but Todd Hollenshead gave us the scoop on how things are coming along.

They just got a revised draft of the script and it’s looking really good. According to his agent, it’s the hottest property in Hollywood (but don’t all agents say that?). “Our deal is actually putting time pressure on Warner Brothers to not sit and wait on the movie.”

LOTR – Return of the King Storage Space

How much space does it take to hold all the cgi elements that are going into the final installment in The Lord of the Rings ? Well, WIRED has all the details. Here’s a clip:

Gollum is real. So is Shelob. And Middle-earth did exist – just a long, long time ago. At least that’s what Weta Digital, the visual effects house behind The Lord of the Rings trilogy, wants you to believe. Its mantra for the final installment: photorealism. The Return of the King, which opens in theaters December 17, will feature almost 50 percent more f/x shots than The Two Towers and will be composed of more data than the first two movies combined. Churning out scenes like the destruction of Barad-dûr and the Battle of Pelennor Fields (with thousands of bloodthirsty CG Orcs) took 3,200 processors running at teraflop speeds through 10-gig pipes – that’s one epic renderwall. What else went into making Frodo’s quest look so good? By Weta’s account, more than you might think.

November 29th, 2003 | Comments Off | Posted in General

Well, I’ve now been sick for a week and a half. Thursday marked a week so I went into the doctor’s office to find out I had Bronchitis. 2 puffers and 2 types of pills later I am slowly able to breath better. Hopefully by the first of the week I’ll finally have some more life in me and I’ll be working and updating here more again.

New Purchases and this Weeks Releases

Well, I picked up a few more movies recently that I haven’t mentioned yet. I saw a couple cheap ones I wanted to get such as Trucks (Tv movie version of Stephen King short story) and Total Recall the Special Collector’s Edition. I picked up 2 new releases last Tuesday, The Lord of the Rings – The Two Towers Extended Edition and Tomb Raider Cradle of Life. I’m amazed there was 43 extra minutes added to The Two Towers. Today I ended up getting the Back to the Future Trilogy. I remember when I saw the first movie in the theatre I really wanted to have that Toyota truck that Marty got at the end of the movie. Lastly, this Tuesday I am going to be picking up X-Men 2. I haven’t decided on Bruce Almighty yet. On the Cd front I’ll be grabbing the new Puddle of Mudd and Default Cd’s.

Warner have now issued a statement regarding the apparent announcement of The Matrix Revolutions for January next year. Unfortunately for you Matrix fans, the disc will not be released this coming January. On this occasion, it would appear that a number of retailers have been fed faulty information. Warner have confirmed however, that the disc is scheduled to be announced in January, although that’s hardly compensation for this monumental cockup! We’ll keep you posted with any further developments!
