Stephen King’s house and more

August 23rd, 2003 | 3 Comments | Posted in General

Well, it was a long 2 days. It was about 11 hours driving each way (not counting stops). I was waiting at the border for an hour on my way down and then got held up by an accident on the I95 for 45 minutes. All I know about the accident was it was a 1/2 Mile ahead of me and involved a motorbike. A helicopter dropped in and left so that’s not a good sign for the rider of the bike. I took one wrong turn once I got into New Hamshire and that added 7 minutes to the drive. Other then that, it was a decent drive down. On the way back I didn’t get held up. I did stop in Bangor for a few hours. Kim wanted to stop into the mall and I wanted to see Stephen King’s house. I’ve been reading his books for 20 years now so I had to stop and see. A couple of the pictures I took are posted below. Click the thumbnail for a larger version.

MSN Messenger Lock down

August 20th, 2003 | 1 Comment | Posted in Software

Microsoft is locking down MSN Messenger. People with older verions or third party clients have to upgrade. Heres a quote from the article:

Users have to upgrade to the latest versions of MSN or Windows Messenger by Oct. 15 or they will no longer be able to log on, Microsoft spokesman Sean Sundwall said. The upgrade is required because of “security issues” with the older versions of the Messenger clients, he said, declining to specify those issues.

This also includes third party IM clients such as Trillian, Imici and Odigo. You can read the full article HERE.

Matrix Revolutions Trailer

I saw this earlier today when searching news. There is a viewable Matrix Revolutions trailer you can check out. The various links are listed below. I haven’t checked it out yet, so I don’t know if it is the same one that was in the Enter the Matrix game or at the end of Reloaded. Once I’ve checked I will make an update here. If someone else finds out, post in the comments to let me know.

Update: Now that I’m back, I’ve checked it out and it is a new trailer.

Web Design

Well, the job I had designing websites has ended. I am currently getting some business cards created and going out on my own to try to make a living. Hopefully I can pull that off. As part of my overall idea for my business, this is the part that concerns you the reader. Anyone that refers web design work to me could receive a small percentage of the job as a commission. To be able to receive the amount, the company or individual that is refered to me must first sign my web design contract and pay their deposit. When those steps are completed and the company or individual has verified you were the one that referred them to me, then you will receive your commission.

Opera and more

August 17th, 2003 | Comments Off | Posted in Software

Well, today I set up a few ghost images at Success college so they can set up a computer in about 10 minutes vs. 4 hours or so. While I was there I got to take advantage of highspeed internet which I miss dearly. I ended up downloading a few different browsers so I could test websites to see how they look in something other then Internet Explorer. To name the ones I downloaded: Netscape 6.2.3 and 7.11, Mozilla 1.4, Mozilla Firebird 0.6.1 and Opera 5.12, 6.06 and 7.11. I currently had only IE 6sp1 and Netscape 4.05. The only ones that display my page funny are the 4.x Netscapes. The one I like the most out of the list is Opera 7.11. Another bonus for Opera is they are only just over 3MB in size. I may even switch to it. Gasp.
